1. Why should you choose DTG digital garment printing instead of traditional screen printing?

  • Produce vibrant full-color digitally printed shirts in minutes
  • No Chemicals, No Screens, No Minimum Orders
  • Immediately be able to print shirts once the design is approved – fast product development / sampling
  • More environmentally and employee friendly - no harsh screen printing chemicals
  • Save on space rent / lease
  • Make money on jobs normally would turn away or couldn't print because of screen printing costs and times.

2. Is DTG digital garment printing FASTER than Screen Printing?

  • DTG kiosk can print as fast as 20 seconds to 220 seconds per print depending on the size and the resolution of the design.  One aspect to consider is that in screen printing you have to assemble square wooden frame, print film positives, expose/washout/dry/tape and block out screens, set-up, print, de-ink the screens, tear down the press and reclaim the screens using chemicals. On average, it takes about 60 minutes per color in a screen printed design to get it burned, setup, registered and torn down. On an 8 color screen print this means you have at least 8 hours just in preparation not including printing time - if not longer. With a digital garment printer you could have already been printing for those 8 hours and making money.

3. Is DTG digital garment printing more EXPENSIVE traditional screen printing?

  • This is another question that depends on the size and the resolution of the design, plus if it is white or dark garments that will be printed on.  One consideration however is that in screen printing if the job orders do not reach the minimum quantity there is a premium or charge on the screen.  Besides, DTG can print vibrant full colors design which is an added value to the garments and you can save on labor cost and rent.

4. How about washability of the DTG printed shirts?

  • The inks used  by the DTG are a water based pigmented ink that hold up well under normal washing and drying. It is the same to water based screen printing inks that they give a really soft hand feel and wash well.

5. In terms of resolution, how is DTG as compared to traditional screen printing?

  • DTG printers can print 360 and 720 dot per inch ( resolution ) as compared to traditional screen printing which is approximately 72 dot per inch.

6. Are there pre-treatment needed for DTG garment printing?

  • Black or dark colored garments need to be pre-treatment, but white or some light colored garments need not be pre-treated.  What need to be done for both colors are to be heat pressed after printing for the ink to be cured and hold up well.

7. How does the printer connect to the computer?

  • DTG printer connects to the computer via a USB port.

8.  Is financing available for DTG printers?

  • Financing is available through a third-party leasing company.
